The inadvertent expatriate blogger behind Gentle Beam Haven

Hi there, I am Sofía
Project manager. Parent. Expat living in Madrid, Spain.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Began
Moving to Spain wasn’t part of the plan for the long haul. Like many expat transitions, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far larger.
The initial months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks seemed more tangled than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. Yet gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, met other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Created Gentle Beam Haven
Most online information was either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site exists to fill that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in Spain.
What This Site Represents (And What It Doesn't)
What this site includes:
- Hands-on insights from living in Spain
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever a real change occurs
This site is not:
- A tourism‑industry official resource
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- An ordinary travel blog
Looking Forward
Our stay in Spain continues, as does the learning process. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue documenting what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in Madrid or anywhere in Spain, don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Sofía
